Melamine Detected Higher in Milk Powder Formula

December 11, 2008 · Filed Under Breastfeeding

What exactly is Melamine? It is a nitrogen-rich compound added to diluted milk to boost apparent protein content.

When this compound is added to milk powder with no set of measurements and each batch varies with each process, a deadly concoction is created and covered up as with the tragedy that happened in China.

Melamine causes kidney stones and kidney failure.

It is used to make plastics, fertilizer, and otherĀ  products, and it is not approved as an ingredient in food.

Melamine has been detected in a few samples of liquid milk and much higher levels in milk powder.
