Feeling Sluggish During Pregnancy May Indicate Sluggish Adrenals
I had this problem when I was pregnant, sluggish adrenals because I was overworked and over stressed from working two jobs.
My cortisol level was way up. I was having a hard time sleeping at night because my cortisol level was very high and that turns off your melatonin.
You will not sleep very well and wake up feeling like you didn’t even go to sleep at all.
Cortisol and DHEA are the two hormones made by your adrenals.
Most women feel more alive and alert than they ever have during pregnancy, only if you have had a relaxed and calm environment before getting pregnant and while pregnant.
Stress blocks hormone production. Say for instance you are having a low libido or sex drive.
In your body, the adrenals represent survival. Your sex hormones represent reproduction.
To your body, survival is always more important than reproduction. So your body will do whatever it takes to maximize adrenal hormone output and convert your sex hormones into adrenal hormones to maintain survival at any cost.
Which is why when you are stressed and tired, your sex drive goes down.
It’s important to take a blood test to see if your adrenals are maximizing output.
Some tell tale signs of weak adrenals are if you get tired around four o’clock in the afternoon, you get a little dizzy when you stand up and crave sweets.
If you have weak adrenals you are in big trouble, this is your key system and your key system is out.
This happens in pregnancy. If you are pregnant and is stressed, say in your sixth month, you will start converting your own progesterone(you are making alot during pregnancy) to the adrenal hormones.
Your seventh month, your baby’s adrenals kick in, and you start stealing from your baby’s adrenals. Your baby’s adrenals start revving up to supply the excess adrenal hormones that you need.
At birth they cut the cord, you loses your fix and suddenly goes into postpartum depression.
The child my then become hyperactive and get colic and all those other things. It is part of the process.
